IN-RESIDENCY PROJECTS
Projects can be in the areas of visual arts, design, photography, cinema, music and sound arts, performing arts, writing arts, installation, sculpture, architecture and space.

Resident artists or designers can propose as curators designers, artists, teachers or researchers, both internal and external to the school, and national and international educational/cultural institutions, such as universities, research units, art and design schools, museums, galleries, art, design and architecture studios, libraries, publishing projects, independent projects and recreational spaces.

We accept individual, duo or collective applications. Residents can propose one or more collaborators from outside the school, provided that at least one (including the resident) is internal or that the curatorial team has an internal member.

The proposals can be materialised using different techniques and formats, both analogue and digital, in graphic projects, visual, sound, film and performance works, written essays and research texts, and presented in exhibition spaces and/or through written, photographic, video or programming records.

As a first step, applicants must submit a pre-proposal for the project using the application form. The pre-proposal will be evaluated by the mediation team within a maximum of 15 days.
Once the proposal has been accepted, the mediation team intervenes on an ad hoc basis by holding three process monitoring meetings (remotely, except in situations where it is possible to meet in person).

1st Phase
The (candidate(s) and their curator(s) present a project proposal to the mediators team.

2nd Phase
The (candidate(s) and their curator(s) present the final proposal to the mediators team, with development and implementation strategy.

After this stage, the author(s) develop the project independently under the supervision of the curatorial team

3rd Phase
The materialised project is presented to the mediators team. After approval, implementation takes place on PENSÃO website and other planned dissemination formats.

The duration of the projects is defined according to each project and can range from 3 to 6 months (or up to 12 months depending on the complexity of the project proposed).
